HOME HEALTH AIDE (HHA) SPANISH

Description: This program is designed to help native Spanish-speaking students gain employment as Home Health Aides. Students will learn the essentials of home and personal care, including basic housekeeping and how to support activities of daily living (e.g., feeding, bathing, dressing) in order to assist the elderly and homebound in their homes. It includes a Home Health clinical experience. Program instruction (lecture/lab) is delivered in Spanish. (Textbooks and other materials may be in Spanish).


Entrance Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or High School Equivalency. Foreign equivalent is acceptable.
  • If no High School Diploma or High School Equivalency, then must take and pass NYS GED RLA subtest (in Spanish).
  • Must pass a physical exam, drug test, and background check
  • Interest in the health field
  • Ability to wear designated uniform and shoes
  • Completed physical exams and drug tests must be submitted prior to the first day of class.

                  *New York State Clearance and fingerprinting will be required for employment.


Class Time/Duration: 8 weeks / at least 12 hours per week / evening classes


Additional Information: Completion of this program will result in a New York State Home Health Care Certification.
