ASBESTOS HANDLER

Description:  The Asbestos Handler Training Program serves as an initial certification program for individuals who handle and remove asbestos and provides instruction on asbestos hazards, abatement methods, cleanup and disposal practices, and essential safety procedures. Students who successfully complete this program and apply to the Department of Environmental Protection, will receive an Asbestos Handling Certification, an official Department of Labor (DOL) OSHA 30-Hour Construction Completion Card and a Site Safety Training (SST) Card.


Entrance Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • High school diploma or equivalency preferred
  • If applicants do not have a High School Diploma or equivalency, they must take the TABE Locator Exam. TABE 13/14 Reading score must be at least 7.
  • Valid New York State DMV ID or license
  • Social Security card


Class Time/Duration: 3 weeks/82 hours
