This program prepares students for a variety of clerical support positions in the healthcare field. Students receive training in maintenance of medical records, medical terminology, basics of medical billing and coding, office procedures, providing effective customer service, scheduling and confirming patient appointments, database and keyboarding skills and other administrative skills. The curriculum also includes HIPAA training. Students who successfully complete the program have the opportunity to obtain national certification (from the National Healthcareers Association) as a Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA).
Criteria for Enrollment: High school diploma or HSE; TABE test;** keyboarding skills of 20 wpm minimum.
Required Courses Include: Medical Administration Training, Medical Billing & Coding I, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Human Relations.
Class Times: Daytime classes only.
Duration: 14 weeks.
Train for a career in healthcare administration with skills in medical records, billing, scheduling, and customer service. Graduates are eligible for the CMAA exam.
