Description: The ESOL program focuses on academic and career readiness, emphasizing English for Speakers of Other Languages. The curriculum is tailored to enhance language proficiency essential for success in the workplace and/or academic environments, including vocational or college programs. Authentic language interaction bridges classroom learning with real-life encounters faced by students daily.
Intensive instruction in reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary equips students with the necessary skills for long-term success and continuous progress in the workforce, college, or vocational training. This standards-based program not only promotes workforce training but also academic and life skills practice, preparing adult learners for a successful transition into their communities. Learning is interactive and student-centered, ensuring comprehension from basic English to high intermediate English, while fostering student confidence.
Relevant and engaging material connects adult learners to topics that impact their lives, allowing for meaningful engagement and addressing their diverse needs and interests.
Entrance Requirements:
- Required TABE entrance exam to determine eligibility
- Required BEST entrance exam to determine eligibility
- Required NYS Oral entrance exam to determine eligibility
Class Time/Duration: 15 weeks / 16 hours a week for each level / day and evening classes
